Mother at University

My mum came up for a couple of days to see me at University! She very much lived the University lifestyle..

After finishing work I was greeted to my mother at my front door with a huge hug! Just what you need.. when your feeling low.  After a catchup and a gossip we decided to head into town and do some much needed retail therapy.  We looked in virtually every clothes store in Northampton, before being defeated by our aching legs and our gurgling tummies.  We were met by two housemates for dinner; we enjoyed a 2 for 1 Cocktails in Revs followed by their delicious food for an early dinner.  I had the chicken and chorizo, pesto pasta with garlic ciabatta (which is to die for), my mum had the blackened chicken burger, George had the ‘Dirty Dog’ (hot dog with pork) and Charlotte the Beef Burger.  The drinks were flowing, the gossip was steaming and the laughs were continuous.

After out luxurious dinner (which resulted in a big bill), we drove to my Boyfriends local pub to have a few halves of cider, games of pool and a bash at table skittles (a Northampton thing apparently) with him and his mum.  After the evening my mother and I retired back to my student house, we got our PJ’s on, snuggled in bed and watched half heartedly ‘The Switch’ starring Jennifer Aniston.  My mum fell asleep half way through, so we turned it off and went to bed.

We awoke the next morning, and whilst my mum was continuing to clean my room I cooked her toast and we sat and ate before starting another day of shopping.  My mum treated me to lunch in a cafe in Northampton called ‘Dreams cafe’ which was delicious, we then finished our day with a potter in H and M, marking the purchase of a brand new jumper.

All in all I was very spoilt these last few days with various dinner and lunch dates, clothes, makeup and gossip.  I was sad to see my mum leave to go back home, but can’t wait for another exciting trip next time in Northampton.  …One very lucky girl!
