I’m sure i’m not the only one that changes their persona to suit to situation or to the people we are with. I’m a different person around my friends, family, Uni friends, Lecturers, business associates. But I think everyone is aren’ they? I bought this conversation up with my boyfriend the other week when I was driving back to uni. We were having one of those thought provoking/philosophical conversations that you only seem to have during the evening, questioning your existence and life itself (do you ever wonder why we are here?). He told me that it’s nothing to be ashamed of, and that he too changes his personality depending on the situation.
But haven’t we always been taught to be ourselves, yet we find it so difficult to actually let go and let our try personality be revealed to certain people. Maybe we as a race are closed and untrusting, or is our personality just a mirror of what society wants us to be. Maybe we change to conform with societys notion of how to behave with certain people. Yes I am currently having one of those thought provoking moments at 10pm at night.
I’m myself around my house mates, crazy with my boyfriend, innocent and childish to my parents, well behaved to my lecturers and quiet to a group of unknown individuals. Maybe this week I will try and be myself for all situations and to all people.
Let me know if you feel the same?
