I have been transported in time to the dark ages, where the internet ceases to exist. Yep! that’s right! I have no internet!
This is the third day with no internet, hence I am writing this on a word document and still have not yet uploaded it to the interweb. It’s crazy to think how much we actually rely on the internet! As a Uni student especially, I need the internet like most people on this planet.
But don’t you think that the internet takes up our lives.. it destroys our ability to interact with people, and pretty much consumes our time. No wonder, we feel as though we have lost a limb when the internet is taken from us without any warning.
I have coped six weeks without the internet before, so how am I struggling having lost it for just three days. Maybe it’s because of the society that we live in. The UK is a fast paced, rush of a society.. we are technical, busy and rat racers. Yet in the tranquil setting of Africa, I never thought once about updated statuses on facebook.
Or maybe it’s because I know that I have looming deadlines, assignments to hand in and a dissertation that’s on my mind. I have resorted to cleaning the house, as I have been so bored today. The kitchen and living room in my student house is maculate and my room is… getting there. The Virgin internet man promised it will be up and running by tomorrow, so fingers crossed. If not! Maybe I need to use my time more effectively like reading perhaps… or a game of scrabble.
